Explore the tasks
Get hands-on experience with some of the physical tasks required for Edmonton Firefighter testing.
equipment carry
Participants must carry two extrication tools (44 lbs and 80 lbs) over a set distance, perform controlled holds at three targets, and return the tools to the start, all within 3 minutes and 45 seconds.
Charged Hose Advance
Participants must advance a 44mm charged hose nozzle 30m as quickly as possible without running, starting from a standing position, and complete the test within 27 seconds.
Weighted Sled Pull
Participants must pull a sled 15m using a 16mm static rope from a stationary position, repeat this three times with a 15m walk between reps, and complete the test within 110 seconds.
Forcible Entry
Participants must use a 10lb hammer to strike a target until a buzzer signals the end, completing the test within 19 seconds.
Victim Rescue
Participants must drag a rescue dummy 30m through a serpentine course using a rescue harness, finishing when the dummy’s feet cross the starting pylon.
ladder climb
Participants must climb a ladder 10 rungs up and down five times, maintaining three points of contact, without missing rungs, and complete the test within 97 seconds.
